Dear Members of the ERAS Society,
We would like to sincerely thank you for your continued support and engagement throughout the year, which was particularly evident during the highly successful congress in Turin.
This year marks an important transition for the ERAS Society. We are moving from a more eminence-based context, previously focused on the implementation of perioperative protocols, toward a stronger evidence-based approach grounded in robust data from large databases, with a clear and sustained focus on surgical outcomes. This transition has required a substantial reorganization, which will be fully established by the turn of the year.
We have now completely updated our way of working by establishing large subcommittees that will meet regularly with the Executive Committee, both in separate and joint meetings for planning of ERAS activities. We also hope to achieve much closer engagement with all centers worldwide that use ERAS. Our work in education, research, and guidelines has been thoroughly reviewed, and we strongly believe that this will lead to significant improvements in the future.
To support these efforts and to improve our accessibility, we are pleased to announce that as of January 19, we have appointed a Global Head of Administration for the ERAS Society. Hedde Lundgren from Sweden will take on this role, and we look forward to the contributions this will bring.
We are very much looking forward to continuing to improve across all areas of our work. An important part of this journey will be the next ERAS Congress, which will take place in Singapore on May 14–16. If you have not yet registered, we warmly encourage you to do so. It promises to be a truly exceptional meeting.
Once again, thank you for your continued support, and we wish you all a brighter future ahead.
We wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
