Mike Grocott is the Professor of Anaesthesia and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Southampton, UK, director designate of the Southampton NIHR Biomedical Research Centre (2020-2025) and an NIHR Senior Investigator.

He is the UK NIHR Clinical Research Network national specialty lead for Anaesthesia Perioperative Medicine and Pain (2015-21) and an adjunct professor of Anesthesiology at Duke University School of Medicine in North Carolina (USA) and an honorary professor at University College London and King’s College London. He is vice-chair of the board of the new national multidisciplinary Centre for Perioperative Care (CPOC) and an elected council member of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (2016- 22). He chairs the board of the National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia (2018-21) and is joint editor-in-chief of Perioperative Medicine.
